Jan. 2017 – Sidney Breakfast Club – David Fissel, Board Chair and Jan Buermans, Product Division Manager, of ASL Environmental Sciences Inc.

David Fissel, Board Chair and Jan Buermans, Product Division Manager, of ASL Environmental Sciences Inc.

Happy New Year Everyone.  Welcome to 2017!  After several weeks of over-eating & drinking, I am ready to get back at it…I think…LOL. I will be hosting our first meeting of 2017 while Bill is out of town.

Our speaker for the Thursday / January 12th / 7am meeting will be David Fissel, Board Chair and Jan Buermans, Product Division Manager,  of ASL Environmental Sciences Inc.

Starting 40 years ago, David was a founding principal in ASL and for much of this time, he was the President & CEO. Jan Buermans has been with ASL since 2001 in product sales positions and recently he took on full responsibility of the Product Division. Our topic on January 12th will be “ASL: Adapting and Thriving under Changing Markets”.

ASL provides Oceanographic Consulting Services and Products to global markets. ASL provides Scientific Consulting Services in oceanography and sea ice, remote sensing, and custom engineering of ocean instruments. Its Product Division, started in 1996, offers three lines of highly advanced and specialized aquatic acoustic instruments. ASL also operates the largest commercial ocean equipment lease pool in Canada.  ASL is employee owned and has over forty highly qualified personnel.

In this talk, David and Jan will present lessons learned over the past forty years, in dealing with changing markets. ASL has developed products and services for several market sectors with a global reach. As a multi-market niche-based company, understanding emerging market needs along with the R&D required to provide the competitive product/service mix, is critically important.  ASL addresses these business challenges through a strategic market-driven approach to business planning along with recruiting and retaining employees who are up to this challenge.”
